Dylan’s Run
Do you have plans for this weekend? If not, then make sure to head out to Milwaukee’s Summerfest grounds on September 13th for Dylan’s Run! The 13th Annual Run/Walk for Autism starts at 10:30 a.m. and is the perfect way to spend quality time with your loved ones while helping a great cause!
Dylan’s Run was created to help promote autism awareness, fund programs in the local community, and support the mission of the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin. Walkers, runners, and volunteers of all ages are invited out to enjoy all of the fun that the lakefront event has to offer.
When Dylan’s Run was established in 2001, the rate of autism was 1 out of 500 children. Today, the CDC estimates that 1 in every 68 children are diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The run was created to help highlight the disability and allow individuals and families who are affected by autism to have the opportunity to get together and show their support for each other.
Each year since the beginning of the event, financial support, media support, and participant support has been growing, allowing Dylan’s Run to be the largest one-day gathering to help support autism throughout Wisconsin.
