October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month!

Update anti-malware and anti-virus software.
All devices in your business should have anti-virus and anti-malware software installed. Regularly keep these systems up to date since they can identify and remove harmful viruses from infecting your business’s system. If you keep forgetting to update these programs, choose to have them download and update automatically.
Teach your team about secure passwords.
You’d be surprised to hear how many cyber breaches occur simply because of an employee’s poor password hygiene. Review what makes a strong password with your team (upper and lower case letters, being more than 10 characters, use special characters and numbers). In addition, remember to change passwords with the seasons and never write any of them down.
Limit access.
Can any of your employees access sensitive information? Are details stored in an easy-to-find location? Your employees should only be able to access information that allows them to do their jobs. If they don’t need to view vendor information, bank account details, and Social Security numbers, then they shouldn’t have access to them. Make sure that sensitive information can only be viewed by people who need to be involved.
